Elizabeth Johanna du Plooy was born on 5 Jul 1838 at Beaufort West, Cape Colony.

She was the daughter of Leendert Hendriek du Plooy and Maria Johanna Vivië.

She was christened on 28 Apr 1839 at Beaufort West, Cape of Good Hope.

She married James (Jim) Cameron on 21 Mar 1864 at Wesleyan Chapel, Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa. James (Jim) was the son of James Cameron and Margaret Allison. He was born in May 1833 at Grahamstown, Albany, Cape Colony. He died on 23 Apr 1912 at Sepani Farm, Thaba Nchu, Orange Free State, South Africa.

They had 8 children: Margaret Elizabeth Cameron, James Henry Cameron, Arthur John Cameron, Mary Ellen Cameron, Hugh Cameron, Elizabeth Marion Cameron, Agnes Le Ber Cameron and Evan Maxwell Cameron.

She died on 3 Sep 1889 at Sepani Farm, Orange Free State, South Africa at the age of 51.

She was buried at Sepani Cemetery, Orange Free State, South Africa.
