Biography

Hugh Cameron was born on 20 May 1872.

He was the son of James (Jim) Cameron and Elizabeth Johanna du Plooy.

He was christened on 11 Aug 1872 at Wesleyan Chapel, Bloemfontein, South Africa.

He married Ethel May Brookshaw. Ethel May was the daughter of Walter Palmer Brookshaw and Emily Charlotte Wallis. She was born on 10 Oct 1886. She died on 20 Aug 1951 at Sanatorium, Chelmsford Road, Durban, Natal Colony at the age of 64.

They had 7 children: Margaret Emily Maxwell Cameron, James Claude Cameron, Phyllis Claude Brookshaw Cameron, Olga Dorothy Cameron, Hugh Wallis Cameron, Juenne Wallis Cameron and Denis Brookshaw Cameron.

He died on 9 May 1934 at National Hospital, Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa at the age of 61.

He was buried in 1934 at Alpha Sepani Siding, Orange Free State, South Africa.
