Maria Johanna Vivië was born on 24 Feb 1804 at Swellendam, Cape Of Good Hope.

She was the daughter of Petrus Jacobus Vivië and Elizabeth Francina Botha.

She was also known as Maria Johanna Viviers.

She was christened on 30 May 1804 at Swellendam, Cape Of Good Hope.

She married Leendert Hendriek du Plooy on 6 Mar 1819 at Graaf Reinet, Cape, South Africa. Leendert Hendriek was the son of Leendert Johannes Louw and Anna Sophia Campher. He died on 23 Sep 1862 at Leuw Kop, Bloemfontein, Orange Free State.

They had 11 children: Johanna Elizabeth Francina du Plooy, Susanna Petronella du Plooy, Petronella Maria Jacoba du Plooy, Margaretha Magdalena du Plooy, Petrus Jacobus du Plooy, Hendrik Leendert du Plooy, Maria Jacomina du Plooy, Martha Elizabeth du Plooy, Phillip Rudolph du Plooy, Jacobus Petrus du Plooy and Elizabeth Johanna du Plooy.

She died on 5 Jul 1838 at Swellendam, Cape Colony, South Africa at the age of 34.
