He was the son of Pieter Vivië and Maria Johanna Strëso.

He was christened on 31 Jan 1779 at Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope.

He married Elizabeth Francina Botha on 27 Aug 1797 at Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope. Elizabeth Francina was the daughter of Philippus Rudolph Botha and Elizabeth Fourie. She was born about 1782. She died about 1828.

They had one child: Maria Johanna Vivië.

He died on 6 Oct 1843.
