He was the son of Louis Philip Glaeser and Maria Jacoba Hablutzel.

He married Minnie Marie Kathleen Metcafe Lodder on 20 Jul 1920 at Worcester, Cape, South Africa. She was born on 23 Mar 1885 at Kimberley, Cape Colony. She died on 24 Jun 1979 at Milnerton Nursing Home, Cape, South Africa at the age of 94.

They had 2 children: Lucia Marie Glaeser and Dorothea Glaeser.
