Biography

Dorothea Catharina Cornelia van Dyk was born on 18 Jun 1795.

She was the daughter of Evert van Dyk and Maria Elizabeth Baartman.

She was christened on 21 Jun 1795 at Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope.

She married George William Henry Glaeser on 11 Aug 1817 at Lutheran Church, Cape Town, Cape Colony. George William Henry was the son of Johann Georg Christian Glaeser and Maria Louisa Krapp(en). He was born on 10 Feb 1785 at Hannover, Germany. He died on 25 Mar 1842 at Worcester, Cape Colony, South Africa at the age of 57.

They had 5 children: Dorothea Klasina Glaeser, John Christian Glaeser, Louis William Glaeser, Carolina Maria Augusta Glaeser and Aletta Johanna Sophia Glaeser.

She died on 16 Jan 1867 at At the house of Dr L W Glaeser, Worcester, Cape Colony at the age of 71.
