She was the daughter of Meriton Murray Johnson and Annie Thirza Catherine Foote.

She married James Graham Brown on 24 Nov 1945 at Cambridge, Waikato, New Zealand. James Graham was the son of James Brown and Mary Jackson Newbold Heape. He was born on 26 Sep 1914. He died on 5 Sep 1978 at Whangerei, New Zealand at the age of 63.

They had one child: Murray Graham Brown.

She died on 8 Jun 1983 at Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand at the age of 68.

She was buried on 14 Jun 1983 at Maunu Cemetery, Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand.
