Karl Oscar Jack Hahn was born on 28 Aug 1884 at Berea, Durban, Colony of Natal.

He was the son of Peter Melchior Carl Hahn and Margarethe Sidonie Schulz.

He married Marie Luise Woods on 20 Apr 1921 at Durban, Natal, South Africa. Marie Luise was the daughter of Arthur Searle Woods and Julia Maud Orlinde Schulz. She was born on 4 Jun 1902. She died on 6 Aug 1986 at the age of 84.

They had 2 children: Barbara Joan Hahn and Margaret Maud Hahn.

He died on 26 Dec 1950 at Main Road, Kloof, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa at the age of 66.
