James Davie (Jimmy) Munro was born on 30 Sep 1878 at Pinetown, Colony of Natal.

He was the son of George Munro and Selina Jane Davie.

He married Lilian Kate Wayne on 22 Feb 1910 at Congregational Church, Musgrave, Durban, Natal, South Africa. Lilian Kate was the daughter of Anthony Wayne and Caroline Robertson. She was born on 8 Jun 1885 at Durban, Colony of Natal. She died on 21 Feb 1941 at Briar Glen, Fascadale, Alfred County, Natal, South Africa at the age of 55.

They had 3 children: Winifred Pearl Munro, Bruce Meredith Munro and George Angus Munro.

He died on 31 Jan 1941 at "Sea View Nursing Home", Port Shepstone, Natal, South Africa at the age of 62.
