Mary Wortley Sanderson was born on 1 Jul 1818 at Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland.

She was the daughter of James Sanderson and Jane Turnbull.

She married George Davie on 29 Mar 1849 at Ormiston, East Lothian, Scotland. George was the son of John Davie and Helen Somervalle. He was born on 23 Apr 1812 at St Cuthberts, Midlothian, Scotland. He died on 21 Sep 1874 at 31 Pleasance, Edinburgh, Scotland at the age of 62.

They had 5 children: John Davie, James Davie, Selina Jane Davie, George Sanderson Davie and Helen Robina Davie.
