Phyllis Ada Schwegmann was born on 22 Dec 1916.

She was the daughter of Frederick Herman Schwegmann and Emily Elizabeth Howell.

She was christened on 18 Feb 1917 at Pinetown, Natal, South Africa.

She married Thomas Gibson (Gibby) Clendinning on 11 Nov 1939 at Pinetown, Natal, South Africa. Thomas Gibson (Gibby) was the son of Richard (Dick) Clendinning and Laura Selina Munro. He was born on 27 Jul 1907. He died on 10 Aug 1993 at Pinetown, Natal, South Africa at the age of 86.

They had 3 children: Lynn Clendinning, Nola Clendinning and Allan Gibson Clendinning.

She died on 6 Nov 2004 at Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa at the age of 87.

She was buried in 2004 at St John's Church, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa.
