She was the daughter of James Cameron and Margaret Allison.

She was also known as Mary Elizabeth Cameron (Exton).

She married Hugh Exton. He was born in Jan 1835 at Huddersfield, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. He died on 7 Jan 1903 at Leopold St, King Williams Town, Cape Colony.

They had 2 children: Allan Haigh Exton and Rupert Cameron Exton.

She died on 30 Sep 1890 at Johannesburg, Transvaal, Southern Africa.
