Derek John Drake was born on 2 Sep 1933.

He was the son of Percy Ivan Arthur Drake and Bessie Eva Glymo.

He was christened on 6 May 1934 at St Michael of All Angels, Boksburg, Transvaal, South Africa.

He married Ella Dorothea Liebenberg on 27 Aug 1976.

He died on 19 Sep 2018 at Gauteng, South Africa at the age of 85.
