She was the daughter of John Goddard and Anne Margaret "Peggy" Whipp.

She married James Hunter Capie. He was born on 29 Oct 1936 at Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He died on 6 Apr 2002 at Carlisle, Cumberland, England at the age of 65.

They had 2 children: Living and Living.
