He married Maria Zegers on 8 May 1735 at Stellenbosch, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. Maria was the daughter of Hendrik Zegers and Helene Van Westhhuysen.

They had 2 children: Christina Helena de Wet and Jacobus Matthias de Wet.
