Theodore Herzel (Tom) Gillman was born on 29 May 1924 at Salisbury, Rhodesia.

He was the son of Hyman Gillman and Elsie Millicent Mary Pow.

He married Barbara Joan Munro on 15 Aug 1953 at St John's Church, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa. Barbara Joan was the daughter of Alfred Charles Munro and Gladys Vera Knowles. She was born on 6 Jul 1927 at Eshowe, Natal, South Africa. She died on 9 May 2024 at Perth, Western Australia, Australia at the age of 96.

They had 4 children: Living, Living, Living and Living.

He immigrated from Durban to Perth on 26 Oct 1962 aboard Zuiderkruis.

He died on 21 Jan 2014 at Nedlands, Perth, Western Australia at the age of 89.

He was buried in 2014 at Karrakatta Cemetery and Crematorium, Karrakatta, Nedlands City, Western Australia, Australia.
