He married Elsie Millicent Mary Pow on 19 Jul 1917 at Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. Elsie Millicent Mary was the daughter of James Edward Pow and Annie Clark. She died on 16 Jun 1968 at 1 Aintree Road, Highlands, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia.

They had 2 children: Joan Gillman and Theodore Herzel (Tom) Gillman.

He died on 27 Jan 1936 at Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia at the age of 59.
