Alan Vere Allan was born on 5 Apr 1886.

He was the son of Thomas John Allan and Mary Vere.

He married Evelyn Kate Whitelaw on 17 Nov 1910 at Stuartstown, Ixopo, Natal.

He married Alicia Euphemia Clendinning on 2 Jun 1919 at St Paul's Church, Durban, Natal, South Africa. Alicia Euphemia was the daughter of Thomas Clendinning and Margaret Jane Kemp. She was born in 1892. She died on 30 Apr 1976.

He died on 21 Jul 1952 at Ixopo, Natal, South Africa at the age of 66.

He was buried in 1952 at St John the Baptist Anglican Church Cemetery, Ixopo, Natal, South Africa.
