Biography

Richard (Dick) Clendinning was born on 3 Jan 1877 at Killala, Mayo, Ireland.

He was the son of Thomas Clendinning and Margaret Jane Kemp.

He was recorded in the census in 31 Mar 1901 at 30 Sandymount Street, Cromac, Antrim, Ireland.

He immigrated from Southampton to Natal on 24 Aug 1901 aboard Greek.

He married Laura Selina Munro on 20 Apr 1904 at Preston House, Pinetown, Colony of Natal. Laura Selina was the daughter of George Munro and Selina Jane Davie. She was born on 2 Apr 1877 at Pinetown, Colony of Natal. She died on 20 Dec 1950 at Sanderson Road, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa at the age of 73.

They had 4 children: Selena Margaret (Pansy) Clendinning, Agnes Isobel (Myrtle) Clendinning, Thomas Gibson (Gibby) Clendinning and Richard Munro Clendinning.

He died on 23 Dec 1960 at 19 Clendinning Road, Sarnia, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa at the age of 83.

He was buried on 29 Dec 1960 at St Johns Church, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa.
