Biography

Ryk Tulbagh was born on 21 May 1699 at Utrecht, Netherlands.

He was the son of Dirk Tulbagh and Catharina Cattepoel.

He married Elisabeth Swellengrebel on 26 Aug 1725. Elisabeth was the daughter of Johannes Swellengrebel and Johanna Cruse. She was born on 16 Feb 1705. She died on 13 Oct 1753 at the age of 48.

They had 2 children: Johannes Dirk Tulbagh and Willem Tulbagh.

His occupation was Governor of Cape 1751-71.

He died on 11 Aug 1771 at Cape Colony at the age of 72.
