Biography

Joseph Allison was born on 30 Nov 1817 at Cork, Ireland.

He was the son of James Allison and Ann Maxwell.

He married Johanna Elizabeth Francina du Plooy. Johanna Elizabeth Francina was the daughter of Leendert Hendriek du Plooy and Maria Johanna Vivië. She was born on 20 May 1821. She died on 25 Jan 1896 at Edenburg, Orange Free State (Home of W Andrews (son-in-law)) at the age of 74.

They had 12 children: Mary Ann Allison, Joseph Henry Allison, George Hendrik Allison, Caroline Elizabeth Allison, Henry Bain Allison, Arthur Maxwell Allison, George Bowen Allison, Francina Josephina Allison, Margaret Allison, James John Allison, Catharina Elizabeth Johanna Allison and Jane Elizabeth Allison.

His occupation was Government Secretary, OFS.

He died on 5 Sep 1869 at Tempe, Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa at the age of 51.
