Shirley Ellis was the daughter of Lionel Ellis Diack and Dorothy Blakey. She was born on 5 Jul 1928. She died on 26 May 1987 at Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 58.

He married Peta Elisabeth Pelletier on 2 Nov 1957 at United Church, Hermanus, Caledon, Cape, South Africa. She was born on 12 Mar 1936.
