Biography

John William Paterson was born about 1845.

He was the son of John Paterson and Elizabeth Douglass.

He married Johanna Catharina Diehl in 1878 at New Zealand. Johanna Catharina was the daughter of Carl Johann Gottlieb Diehl and Johanna Catharina Rapp. She was born on 28 Dec 1850 at Sexau, Emmendingen, Baden, Germany. She died on 3 Aug 1926 at the age of 75.

They had 2 children: Elizabeth "Bessie" Paterson and Johanna Catherine Paterson.

He died on 13 Sep 1923.

He was buried in 1923 at Hawera Cemetery, Hawera, South Taranaki District, Taranaki, New Zealand.
