She became engaged to Duncan Henry Barrett. Duncan Henry was the son of Benjamin Hugh Barrett and Isabella Sanderson (Bella) Munro. He was born on 21 Apr 1918 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa. He died on 29 Aug 1941 at Holland at the age of 23.
