She was the daughter of John Watson-Smart and Laura Helen.

She married Charles Samuel Whipp on 7 Aug 1907 at Roodeport, Witwatersrand, Transvaal, South Africa. Charles Samuel was the son of John Whipp and Mary Anne Hodgson. He was born on 21 Apr 1873 at Mooi River, Natal, South Africa. He died on 24 Jan 1942 at Johannesburg General Hospital, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 68.

They had 6 children: Leonard Charles Whipp, Shiela Helen Olive Whipp, Mary Joyce Whipp, John Douglas Whipp, Marion Hope Whipp and Jean Margaret Whipp.

She died on 26 May 1958 at St Joseph's Hospital, Port Elizabeth, Cape, South Africa.
