Robert Milne was born in 1828.

He married Susan Russell. Susan was the daughter of John (James) Russell and Tete Mereana Teite. She was born on 11 Nov 1833 at Whenu Hou, Codfish Island, Southland, New Zealand. She died on 24 Dec 1907 at Herbert, Otepopo, North Otago, New Zealand at the age of 74.

He was buried at Otepopo, New Zealand.
