She was the daughter of William James Rowland Hill and Mary Fitz Ellen Gillingham.

She married Walter Henry Lewis Dearlove on 13 May 1903 at St Albans Cathedral, Pretoria, Transvaal. Walter Henry Lewis was the son of Joseph Avery Dearlove and Mary Low. He was born on 25 Mar 1875 at Zoutpansberg, Transvaal. He died on 17 Jan 1928 at Gruisfontein, Waterburg, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 52.

They had 3 children: Rowland Avery Dearlove, Arthur Raymond Dearlove and Cyril Hill Dearlove.
