Thomas Vallance was born about 1824.

He was the son of Colin Vallance and Agnes Mackay.

He married Mary Stoddart on 8 Aug 1856 at Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland. Mary was the daughter of James Stoggart and Christina Draylis. She was born about 1827. She died on 22 Aug 1873 at Park Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

They had 7 children: Mary Vallance, Agnes Vallance, Christina Vallance, Thomas Vallance, James Vallance, Isabella Vallance and Mary Vallance.

He married Helen Robina Davie on 15 Nov 1881 at 109 Crichton Street, Edinburgh, Scotland. Helen Robina was the daughter of George Davie and Mary Wortley Sanderson.
