Edith Ann(i)e Dearlove was born on 1 Feb 1875 at Zoutspansberg, Transvaal, South Africa.

She was the daughter of Joseph Avery Dearlove and Mary Low.

She married Thomas Hodgson Whipp on 5 Feb 1895 at St Mary's, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. Thomas Hodgson was the son of John Whipp and Mary Anne Hodgson. He was born on 9 Nov 1865 at Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa. He died on 9 Jun 1931 at Gruisfontein, Waterberg District, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 65.

They had 5 children: Vivian Dearlove Whipp, Edna Mary Whipp, Marjorie Jane ( Ba) Whipp, Ernest Whipp and Eileen Whipp.

She died on 28 Jan 1964 at General Hospital, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 88.
