Septimus Josiah Wright was born on 11 Aug 1837 at Grahamstown, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.

He married Jesse Jane Mary Ann McMaster on 14 Sep 1858 at Somerset East, Cape Colony. Jesse Jane Mary Ann was the daughter of David John James McMaster and Jane Margaret Pinchin Webber. She was born on 6 Dec 1836 at Somerset East, Cape Colony. She died on 5 Jul 1913 at Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa at the age of 76.

He died on 29 Oct 1905 at Bloemfontein, Orange Free State, South Africa at the age of 68.
