Alexander Anderson Sutherland Troup was born on 17 Jul 1858 at Broom, Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
He was the son of David Troup and Isabella Allardyce.
He married Anne Collier on 16 Jul 1887 at Coldwells, New Blyth, King Edward, Abefdeenshire, Scotland. She died on 27 Jun 1933.
