Johannes Tobias Rhenius was born in 1697 at Berlijn, Germany.
He was the son of Isaak Rhenius and Anna Schuster.
He married Engela Bergh on 7 Mar 1717. Engela was the daughter of Olof Bergh and Anna de Koningh. She died in Jul 1721.
They had 3 children: Johannes Theophilus Rhenius, Johannes Theophilus Rhenius and Johann Isaac Rhenius.
He married Anna Christina Muller on 20 Jun 1723.
