Guy Leslie Poynton was born on 29 Mar 1903.

He married Agnes Hunter Dryden on 13 Mar 1943 at Parkview, Johannesburg, South Afrca. Agnes Hunter was the daughter of Alexander Dryden and Margaret Mary (Daisy) Munro. She was born on 27 Oct 1905. She died on 18 May 1985 at the age of 79.

They had 2 children: Sandra Poynton and Living.

He died on 23 Feb 1990 at the age of 86.
