He was the son of Petrus de Wet and Magdalena Fenesie Maree.

He was christened on 21 Apr 1764.

He married Susanna Elisabeth du Toit on 1 Feb 1784 at Tulbagh, Cape of Good Hope. She was born on 25 Jan 1767 at Paarl, Cape of Good Hope. She died on 9 Oct 1824 at Worcester, Cape Colony at the age of 57.

They had 6 children: Susanna Magdalena de Wet, Pieter Daniel de Wet, Hendrik Christoffel de Wet, Daniel Johannes Jacobus de Wet, Jacobus Stephanus de Wet and Hester Carolina de Wet.

His occupation was Burger Stellenbosch.
