Charles William Upchurch was born on 4 Aug 1872.

He married Robina Rykie Glaeser on 5 Mar 1919 at Dutch Reformed Church, Three Anchor Bay, Cape Town, Cape, South Africa. Robina Rykie was the daughter of Louis Philip Glaeser and Maria Jacoba Hablutzel. She was born on 19 Mar 1888. She died on 6 Mar 1971 at the age of 82.

He died on 9 Dec 1956 at the age of 84.

He was buried in 1956 at De Wet Cemetery, Worcester, Cape Colony.
