She was the daughter of William Albert Lavell and Constance Rose Catley.

She married Murray Graham Brown. Murray Graham was the son of James Graham Brown and Ethne Doris Johnson. He was born on 9 Jul 1949. He died on 9 Jan 2017 at Auckland, New Zealand at the age of 67.

They had 2 children: Living and Living.
