He married Isabella Petrie. She was born on 20 Sep 1847 at Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She died on 5 Jan 1908 at Aberdeen, Aberdeen City, Scotland at the age of 60.

They had 7 children: George Philip Diack, Isabella Diack, Margaret Scorgie Diack, Jane Diack, Barbara Gordon Diack, Anna Argo Diack and William Diack.
