Barbara Adam was born on 30 Jul 1830 at Insch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

She was the daughter of John Adam and Margaret Oliver.

She married Peter Diack on 4 Jul 1857 at Drumblade, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Peter was the son of James Diack and Ann Elspet Robertson. He was born on 27 Apr 1835 at New Rayne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He died on 13 Apr 1906 at the age of 70.

They had 8 children: Margaret Diack, Mary Ann Diack, Peter Diack, Barbara Adam Diack, John Diack, Alexander Diack, Elizabeth Diack and Ella Diack.
