Elizabeth McCulloch was born on 26 Apr 1779 at Forgue, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

She was the daughter of James McCulloch and Margaret Catherine Alexander.

She married James Adam in 1796 at Forgue, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. James was the son of James Adam and Anna Spence. He was born on 9 Jan 1776 at Marnoch, Banffshire, Scotland. He died on 27 Jul 1843 at Fordyce, Banff, Scotland at the age of 67.

They had 9 children: Margaret Adam, Elizabeth Adam, Christian Adam, John Adam, Alexander Adam, Jane Adam, Elspet Adam, Isobel Adam and William Adam.

She died on 20 Nov 1863 at Drumdollo, Forgue, Aberdeen, Scotland at the age of 84.
