He married Helen (Nellie) Shaw Diack on 17 Jun 1925 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Helen (Nellie) Shaw was the daughter of James Adam Diack and Margaret Hunter. She was born on 3 Jul 1899 at Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She died on 17 Sep 1977 at Brampton, Ontario, Canada at the age of 78.

They had 3 children: Helen Margaret Diack Brown, William Joseph Brown and Living.

He served in Served 130th Company Canadian Forestry Corps at Fetternear, Kemnay, Scotland between 1914-1918.

He died on 4 Oct 1979 at Ontario, Canada at the age of 83.
