Freerk Hummellen was born on 11 Dec 1877 at Assen, Drenthe, Netherlands.

He married Elizabeth Henrietta Glaeser on 17 Apr 1917 at Zeerust, Marico, Transvaal, South Africa. Elizabeth Henrietta was the daughter of William Nicholas Glaeser and Anna Maria Fredrieka Abel. She was born on 4 Aug 1893.

He died on 24 Jul 1948 at 43 Noordersingel, Assen, Drenthe, Netherlands at the age of 70.
