Mary Struthers Cattanach Bain was born about 1918 at Glasgow, Scotland.

She married Dennis Arthur Beggs on 20 Apr 1940 at Pinetown, Natal, South Africa. Dennis Arthur was the son of Robert Beggs and Georgina Gladstone Duncan. He was born on 21 May 1915. He died on 19 Oct 1953 at Roan Antelope Copper Mine, Luanshya, Northern Rhodesia at the age of 38.
