He married Jane Douglas Walker. She was born on 6 Mar 1853. She died on 12 Aug 1904 at Newcastle, Colony of Natal at the age of 51.

They had 6 children: Jane Walsh, William George Walsh, John Douglas Walsh, William George Walsh, Mary Walsh and Francis George Walsh.
