Leonard James Twining was born on 12 Aug 1924.

He married Marjorie Ann Lane on 9 Sep 1983. Marjorie Ann was the daughter of Bertrand William Patrick Lane and Edna Mary Whipp. She was born on 28 Apr 1931. She died on 21 Apr 1986 at Boksburg, Transvaal at the age of 54.

He married Sylvia Kathleen Lace on 5 Aug 1995. She was born on 10 Mar 1939. She died in 2019.

He died on 16 Oct 1999 at the age of 75.
