Jacobus Leonardus Louw was born before 3 May 1739 at Drakenstein, Cape of Good Hope.
He was the son of Leonardus Louw and Elsje van der van der Heijden.

He married Susanna du Rand. Susanna was the daughter of Jan du Rand and Johanna Gildenhuyzen.

He married Dina Alida Swanepoel. Dina Alida was the daughter of Johannes Swanepoel and Dina Brits.
He died before 24 Mar 1809.
