He married Flora Marjorie Whipp on 3 Mar 1945 at Methodist Central Hall, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. Flora Marjorie was the daughter of John "Jack" Whipp and Dora Agnes MacDonald. She was born on 3 Oct 1919 at Glenallan, Memel Orange Free State, South Africa.
