Margaret MacDonald was born on 22 Jul 1838 at Urquhart, Inverness-shire, Scotland.

She was the daughter of John Kenneth Somerled MacDonald and Mary Campbell.

She married Alexander Munro on 17 Nov 1868 at Urquhart and Logie Wester, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. Alexander was the son of John Munro and Janet Ross. He was born about 1845 at Kilmuir-Easter, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. He died on 28 Apr 1924 at Urquhart, Inverness-shire, Scotland.

They had 7 children: Jessie Ross Munro, John MacDonald Munro, Kenneth Donald Alexander Munro, Finlay Munro, Alexander Munro, William Francis Munro and Macdonald Somerled Munro.

She died on 26 Sep 1925 at Kilmore, Inverness, Scotland at the age of 87.
