He married Betsy Simons. Betsy was the daughter of Zigel Simons and Endel. She was born in 1845 at Germany. She died on 27 Jul 1903 at 126 Jeppe Street, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.

They had one child: Amelia Tayfield.
