Thomas Robert Caffyn was born on 17 Jan 1853.

He married Rykie Catharina Glaeser on 15 Oct 1874 at Rynse kerk, Worcester. Rykie Catharina was the daughter of Louis William Glaeser and Wilhelmina Elizabeth le Sueur. She was born on 25 Aug 1853. She died on 27 Oct 1944 at 11 Park Lane Mansions, Parktown, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 91.

They had 2 children: Wilhelmina Elizabeth Caffyn and Elaine Caffyn.

He died on 13 Apr 1903 at the age of 50.
