Ida Florence Bruce was born in 1901.

She was the daughter of Charles Bruce and Catherine Christie.

She emigrated in 1909, Sydney, Australia to Cape Town, South Africa.

She married Fred Leslie Cowen on 16 Mar 1929 at Turffontein, Johannesburg, South Africa. Fred Leslie was the son of Joseph William Cowen and Selina Humble Cruikshanks. He was born on 4 Aug 1902 at Barrow-in-Furness, County Barrow, England. He died on 25 Nov 1966 at General Hospital, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa at the age of 64.
